The secrets of Jane's creative process

The work exhibited in an art gallery, at an exhibition or in artistic places represents a culmination for the artist but it is above all the final point of a creative journey rich in emotions and artistic stages specific to each one. Not only in all eras but also in the arts, men are fascinated by this artistic culture because a part of them find themselves in it and understand it but also because art contains works that deliver and reflect a whole range of knowledge on oneself, on the world and on art itself. If this is the case, it is especially because the creative process is a complex one. Far from the myth of the artist who wakes up in the middle of the night, lulled by a dream where the work appears to him as a given, Jane undertakes a discipline, the discipline of the creative process.

Indeed, Jane's artistic journey is no exception. If you enjoy her works such as The Prophet or Climate Change, or Power, it will be from now on and also because you will be familiar with its secrets, not and only because it catches your eye.

On several occasions you have probably noticed what Jane calls the Black Boxes. They are the tool of a major line in the artistic creation : the artist thought and produced the work in a specific context. It is within these boxes that the founding ideas of a painting come together. These dark boxes are mainly composed of newspaper clippings, pieces of fabric of different materials but also of different colors. Sometimes, if not always, they are composed of quotes from authors, poets, sketches of drawings that from time to time, but not always, will not be retained during this meditative process. Jane draws curves, gestures that she tries to retranscribe to give a full truth to the future drawing.

More than drafts, often the work of a powerful impulse, the Black Boxes are the core of Jane's artistic work.

Ultimately, this genesis represents Jane's personality, her urge to create in intimacy, away from the public eye. It represents her need to make sense of what she creates, to bring coherence to her work, from the secret stages to the unveiled painting on canvas or in a gallery. We can say that the intimate steps that will allow her public to contemplate the exposed work compose an art in themselves. The unveiling of the work is just the visible part of Jane's art, its essence calls for deeper, more intimate sensations.

Now you have the keys to interpret Jane's art, but again, that interpretation is your own - and infinite, like Jane's art.
