“When you meet your friend on the roadside or in the marketplace, let the spirit in you move your lips and direct your tongue.”

- Kahlil Gibran

At twenty, Jane fell upon ‘The Prophet’ by Kahlil Gibran, the Lebanese poet and philosopher. This book full of oriental wisdom fascinated her and influenced her life. She found comfort and answers to her questions within it. “There is coherence between The Prophet and my work. I think that throughout my life I will always illustrate it.” A life open to others, because Jane’s discretion hides an attentive and respectful curiosity towards people she knows throughout the world. Her first book is brilliant proof of this. Like waves, it’s a constant passage between East and West, ideas from the orient, from Japan, mixed with attitudes that are sometimes decidedly western.
